The job fair is FREE and is part of a national initiative to facilitate a seamless approach to re-entry, including employment, for federal offenders.
"Research has established that stable employment is one of the most significant predictors of success for individuals on supervision," said U.S. Probation Officer Jessica Martinez. "Through this partnership, employers and the community work together to provide offenders with skills required for employment, retention, and career advancement," she added.
Individuals on federal supervision now looking for a job should bring their resume, dress in professional attire and be ready for an on-site interview. Individuals on state supervision are also encouraged to attend and may also be eligible for additional resources through Project RIO; a Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande program for offenders. Employers who hire state and/or federal offenders can receive work opportunity tax credits and bonding assistance. For more information individuals and employers can call Otis Martin at 585-6563.
