Unemployment Insurance Claim Tips |
|
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has seen an increase of Unemployment Insurance (UI) calls due to the hurricanes, two federal UI extensions and an increase in the unemployment rate. Since the summer, TWC has added 110 call center workers and 150 phone lines to help. Here are some tips to get the information you need. Use online services whenever possible. The website for UI is www.twc.state.tx.us. Use e-mail if the claimant cannot get through on the telephone. Encourage the claimant to send questions to TWC using the UI Information e-mail address at

The claimant should include the last four digits of their social security number (xxx-xx-1234); a contact telephone number; an address; and as detailed a description as possible of the question or issue. TWC staff will get back to the claimant within 48 hours.
Call TWC during low volume times. Call volumes are always highest on Mondays and Tuesdays. The best time for claimants to get through to TWC is later in the day and at the end of the week. Also, the Monday after Christmas and first Monday in January are anticipated to be the highest call days of the year.
UI Claimants can call the TWC UI Tele-Center at o El Paso: 915-832-6400 o Toll Free: 1-800-939-6631
Call 1-800-832-9243 (or 800-832-WAGE) for questions regarding wage claims. |
